Iranian Enrichment Assignment
Period 3
Purpose: The purpose of this research assignment is to teach the whole class information that will help our study of Persepolis. Through this assignment and presentation, the class will learn more about the history of Iran (the setting of Persepolis) and how it has impacted the world.
Directions: You will receive a question about Iran to answer through research, and then you should create a PowerPoint presentation answering this question using words and pictures (each slide must have a picture). On the due date (Tuesday, December 17), you will be presenting the answer to your question to your group. You are to answer your assigned question on Iran in a PowerPoint Presentation.
The assigned question will be one of the following essential questions:
- What was the Shah of Iran’s role in government, what were the reasons for his overthrow, and how did his overthrow impact the people of Iran, the U.S., and/or the rest of the world?
- What are the major religious beliefs of Islam, why did certain religious groups feel that revolution against the Shah was necessary, and how does this belief impact the citizens of Iran, the U.S., and/or the rest of the world?
- What are the pre-revolution norms or expectation of Iranian societal institutions such as schools, religion, families, and government and how did they impact the citizens of Iran, the U.S., and/or the rest of the world?
- What are the post revolution norms or expectations of Iranian societal institutions such as schools, religion, families, and government, and how did they impact the citizens of Iran, the U.S., and/or the rest of the world?
- Who is the Ayatollah Khomeini? What is his background? What are his beliefs? How did he impact the citizens of Iran, the U.S. and/or the world?
